High Unranium levels in Tuscon Area Well

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Water drawn from wells at a Phelps Dodge mine south of Tucson has twice the federal drinking water limit for uranium, tests show.The contamination was discovered in wells at the Sierrita mine west of Green Valley, according to a report from the federal Environmental Protection Agency. Wells at a nearby mine test below the threshold for uranium but have three times the level of some heavy metals, such as cadmium and thallium.
